France condemns the car bomb explosion on August 15 in Lebanon
Excerpts from the daily press briefing by Vincent Floreani, French MFA’s deputy spokesman (Paris, 16th August 2013)
France condemns in the strongest possible terms the car bomb explosion on August 15 in the Rweiss neighborhood of southern Beirut, which left an estimated 22 dead and more than 300 injured.
We offer our condolences to the families of the victims. It is essential to get to the bottom of this attack, and for those responsible to be held accountable.
France reiterates its commitment to Lebanon’s stability and its condemnation of terrorism. It appeals to all Lebanese people to preserve national unity, in keeping with the Baabda Declaration of June 2012. France supports President Suleiman’s policy of dissociation. That is also the message the UN Security Council conveyed yesterday when it condemned any attempt to destabilize Lebanon.
